Global network optimises, services and repairs maneuvering and propulsion systems

| Thanks to a new cooperation organization between the long-standing partners LOEWE MARINE, MOVENA KOREA and SUBSEA GLOBAL SOLUTIONS (SGS), ship owners and
operators can now benefit from a globally available service for more efficient manoeuvring and propulsion systems. The partners' extended interface management ensures smooth processes for all services offered, which include new developments with a holistic design approach as well as efficiency conversions and repairs. Thanks to the network's expertise in underwater welding work, many orders can be successfully completed at short notice without the need for docking .

Hamburg, July 17, 2025 – Bremen-based LOEWE MARINE and MOVENA KOREA, long-standing maritime partners, are launching their expanded cooperation in the field of manoeuvring and propulsion systems together with SGS from Miami following intensive strategy discussions in Busan and at the Hamburg Port Club. LOEWE MARINE, a globally established manufacturer of rudders for all ship types and sizes and provider of maintenance and repair services for rudders and steering gears, and the MOVENA Group, with more than 20 years of experience with Asian, particularly Korean shipyards and shipping and classification societies in the areas of design, plan approval, ship inspection/repairs and certification of materials/components, are pooling their expertise to create a new global service with a previously unavailable scope. Subsea Global Solutions, as the third partner, brings in teams stationed on all continents for underwater welding work, which have already successfully completed around a dozen orders without docking together with MOVENA in recent years.

Highly efficient propulsion and maneuvering technology from a single source

The optimized cooperation provides customers from the maritime industry with a specialized, professional service in the highly efficient propulsion and manoeuvring technology sector from a single source. Ship owners and operators can benefit from this partnership with immediate effect, as the use of newly created synergies will reduce the costs of ship operation, particularly for maintenance and repairs, in some cases significantly.

Customized solutions with focus on future limit values of EEDI-3 and CII

LOEWE MARINE, MOVENA KOREA and Subsea Global Solutions support ship owners and operators with customized solutions. The aim is always to increase efficiency, and the ways to achieve this are chosen to suit the client's needs and range from modification and renewal in the area of propeller conversion and highly efficient full-floating rudders to state-of-the-art hull designs. The joint new service offering includes optimized ship and propulsion design that already meets future EEDI-3 and CII limits with maximum efficiency and a holistic design approach. The portfolio of the three partners also includes support for internal and external modification projects in order to jointly improve existing propulsion and rudder efficiency in the best possible way. They also analyze damage in the propulsion area and present a catalog of measures for temporary or final repairs, including underwater work. A central component of the service is also the support of the conversion/repair phase in the dock with effective interface management for the propeller system, rudder and steering gear to ensure the highest quality from a single source and a smooth process for rapid implementation.

Holistic support for the four areas of hull, propeller, rudder and rowing machine

LOEWE MARINE, MOVENA and Subsea Global Solutions reduce interface problems by providing comprehensive support for the four key areas of hull, propeller, rudder and steering gear. This risk reduction for ship operators also leads to more efficient processes, shorter project times and improved techno-economic results. Y.S. Kim, Managing Director of MOVENA KOREA, puts it in a nutshell: "Our long-standing partnership with LOEWE MARINE and SGS enables us to offer ship owners and operators an even more comprehensive service." And Carsten Löhmer, Managing Partner of LOEWE MARINE, adds: "With this new offering, we can respond specifically to the individual needs of our customers worldwide, optimally adapt their propulsion systems to the respective requirements and support the implementation in the dock and in the water as needed." Kevin Peters, Director of Technical Sales at Subsea Global Solutions, emphasizes the importance of the competence partnership for ship operators and insurance companies in the event of repairs: "As our services offer an effective alternative to expensive and time-consuming docking or towing ships over long distances, we significantly reduce costs."

Strong contribution to greater sustainability in shipping

The collaboration underlines the companies' commitment to consistently applying and further developing pioneering solutions in the field of marine technology in order to improve the efficiency and reliability of ship propulsion systems in the best possible and sustainable way. All those responsible for the extended partnership are thus making a strong contribution to greater sustainability in shipping.
